A3 Problem Solving:

The Power of Story Telling 📔

As a business consultant, I would like to introduce the A3 problem-solving approach, a powerful method that simplifies complex issues and promotes effective communication. Originating in lean manufacturing, the A3 approach has been applied across various industries. The name “A3” stems from the paper size used to document the process and its components.

The A3 method consists of three key elements: problem statement, analysis, and action plan. This collaborative approach to problem-solving creates a story-like narrative easily understood by everyone involved. An A3 report emphasizes visual storytelling, incorporating supporting data and visuals such as photographs, graphs, and process flows to help stakeholders grasp the problem, its root cause, and the proposed action plan for improvement.

Utilising the A3 approach for communicating improvement activities can significantly enhance transparency and foster organisational collaboration. At leanscape.io, we believe in developing leaders adept at problem-solving, analytical thinking, and innovation. By adopting the A3 problem-solving method, individuals and organizations can effectively address challenges and create value across all levels of their business, paving the way for long-term success and growth.

Master Change Management:

Three Phases of Making Change Happen

Change management is a must-have skill in today’s ever-evolving business landscape. By learning how to effectively manage change, you’ll stay ahead of the competition and ensure your organization stays agile and adaptable. Let’s break down the complex concept of change management using everyday language and Lewin’s three-stage change theory.

First, there’s the “unfreezing” stage, where you recognize the need for change and prepare your team for it. Think of it as loosening up old habits to make way for new ideas. Next comes the actual “change” – implementing new strategies and processes. This is like learning a new dance routine; it might be challenging at first, but with practice, it becomes smooth and natural. Finally, the “refreezing” phase is when the changes become part of the organization’s culture, solidifying the new normal.

For example, imagine your company needs to adopt new software to streamline project management. You’d begin by unfreezing – explaining the benefits of the new tool and addressing any concerns. Then, during the change phase, you’d train everyone on the software, making adjustments as needed. And lastly, once everyone is comfortable with the new system, you’d refreeze, establishing it as the standard way of managing projects.

Mastering change-management will empower your organization to thrive in an ever-changing world, positioning yourself and your team for long-term success.

What is your work style?

Understanding how you work.

As a career coach, I can’t stress enough the importance of understanding your work style and how it impacts your career development. Work styles are essentially how you approach tasks and interact with others in a professional setting. It’s crucial to identify whether you’re more task-oriented, focusing on getting things done efficiently, or people-oriented, prioritizing relationships and teamwork.

By recognizing your strengths and weaknesses, you’ll be able to improve your productivity and overall job satisfaction. For instance, knowing your work style can help you communicate more effectively, collaborate better with colleagues, and contribute positively to team dynamics. If you’re task-oriented, you might excel at project management and meeting deadlines, while if you’re people-oriented, you may shine in roles that require empathy and interpersonal skills.

Understanding your work style is the key to unlocking your full potential, leading to career success and long-term personal fulfilment.
