Quality Assurance Society

The Quality Assurance Society (QAS) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit professional membership organization committed to the development, promotion, and advancement of quality assurance and testing practices. QAS provides educational opportunities, Recognized Practitioner certification, advocacy, and networking services for members worldwide.

The Society was founded in 1954 as the American Society for Quality Control with the merger of two smaller national organizations. ASQC eventually became known as the American Society for Quality (ASQ), an international organization headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with over 80,000 individuals and 1,350 corporate memberships.

What Does QAS Do?

The mission of QAS is “to meet the needs of the profession through lifelong learning opportunities that result in increased productivity and improved quality.” To achieve this goal, QAS provides opportunities for its members to interact with their peers worldwide to share best practices and advance their knowledge and skillsets.

In addition to educational opportunities and networking events, QAS also offers professional recognition through its Recognized Practitioner (RP) certification program. RPs are required to have both experience and education to be credentialed, and recertification is necessary every three years to maintain active status. As of 2013, there are approximately 1,200 RPs worldwide.

Conclusion:

Suppose you are looking for an organization that can provide you with educational opportunities, professional recognition, and networking services related to quality assurance and testing. In that case, the Quality Assurance Society is the right choice for you. With over 80,000 individuals and 1,350 corporate memberships worldwide, QAS is one of the largest professional organizations dedicated to quality assurance.
