Measles Charts: How They’re Used and What They Mean

Measles charts are a practical tool for collecting data that helps when analysing the location of failures in a product or process. By plotting the number of failures over time or by plotting the failures against another factor, it is possible to see trends and identify potential problem areas.

Measles charts are visual and a practical method of plotting the location, and frequency (density) of failures onto a symbolic drawing or picture of a product or process.

Measles charts help identify potential problem areas so that Measles can be eradicated. Measles charts are also a way of monitoring the progress of Measles eradication.

When Measles is drawn on a chart, the shading or colouring in of Measles represents the number (density) of failures. The location of Measles on the chart will show where the failures occurred. Measles charts can be used to track progress over time or to compare different products or processes.

Here is an example of a Measles Chart where the errors are indicated as dots.

A simple example like this can capture where the various errors are coming from when looking at a customer form. Where is information missing or errors being made?
